If you do the test early there are chances it will show falsely negative hence better to wait till you miss your period and then do the test.. another alternative is beta HCG test which is a blood test

If your menstrual cycles are of a 28day cycle , sometimes it can be confirmed with a BHcg Blood test .But its better to wait until u miss your date by atleast a day or 2.
if your cycles are irregular , then NO, you can confirm after missing cycle for a week .
