We had consulted a gastroenterologist for constipation related issues of my mother. He suggested to go through endoscopy and colonoscopy . My mother is very timid and deadly fears these processes . The doctor says - there will be no sedation or anaesthesia during colonoscopy process and the patient will experience slight discomfort . I am little worried for my mother since she is 65 years old and whether she would be able to bear the colonoscopy process. Any suggestions would be helpful. My mother is diabetic, hence wanted to know if colonoscopy without local anaesthesia or sedation is fine ?
