Child rejecting previously accepting bf
My 2months old daughter was in NICU for 12 days was discharged when bottle fed. She was taking bottle and formula along with breastfeed. With more on top feed. Suddenly after 6 weeks of life she has started rejecting bottle to the extend we are able to give only 15-20ml through bottle unlike previous intake of 60ml with bottle. Now i feel breast feed is not enough for her and she cried a lot but still not taking formula/ bottle basically. Firstly is this normal? And wat can be done in such case?

Instead of bottle feeding (which carries a risk of infection & nipple confusion), you can use a steel cup-spoon / paladai for feeding the baby Kindly continue breastfeeding If you feel breastmilk is not enough, and baby is not taking formula feed…you can change the brand of the formula feed Kindly mention the exact age, current weight and birth weight of your baby

Breastfeeding is the best food till the age of 6 months for the babies. We do not recommend formula feed , bottle feed at all, bottle feeding is associated with increased risk of infections like pneumonia, feeding difficulties, poor dental growth , poor jaw growth of the baby. Breastfeed has all the nutrients required by the baby and it rather also has immunity boosters for your child, her/ his IQ will be higher if breastfed and the future risk of diseases will be less if breastfeeding continued.
Next Steps
You can improve your breastmilk by various measures , first of all eat a very balanced healthy diet, include everything, roti , rice , green vegetables, fruits, drynuts, eggs, chicken( if nonveg) , dont just depend upon soups as your own diet. Drinks milk everyday, and ensure night time feeding, which is a huge reason behind not able to produce enough milk if you are not breast feeding at night. Take your multivitamins , continue iron and calcium .
Health Tips
You can follow these measures, and if still not producing enough milk, you can book a consultation, where you will be counselled and starting on supplements.
