Cellulitis/ Something Else
Hi my father 70 yrs have got redness and swelling in leg and he feels pain while walking either in vein or bone which is not able to tell. Doctor on odisha said it is cellulitis. After 10 days of taking antibiotics it is not healing. After medicine stop it is again swelling and redness. Pls advise if it is actually cellulitis or something else and which specialist to consult from. A general surgeon or general physician or a neurologist.

The pictures shown is not clear but look like cellulitis. Can be some other condition too. Needs direct clinical examination. If it’s not settling with oral antibiotics he will require inpatient care and intravenous antibiotics. Also we need to do a venous doppler ultrasound scan to rule out deep vein thrombosis. Is he a diabetic? If so should control his blood sugar levels adequately. He needs other blood tests also and further evaluation. Will need further information.
Next Steps
Get admitted under a surgeon immediately and get evaluated further
Health Tips
Consult a nearby surgeon immediately
