My 12 year old had bloodwork done recently and her doctor is on vacation. The results are in and say that her absolute monocytes are 1250 and her absolute esonophils are 0. Is this serious?

The eosinophil count is normal but the monocyte count is increased. A heightened percentage of monocytes in your blood can be caused by: - chronic inflammatory disease, such as inflammatory bowel disease - a parasitic or viral infection - a bacterial infection in your heart - a collagen vascular disease, such as lupus, vasculitis, or rheumatoid arthritis - certain types of leukemia So the test results need to be clinically correlated with your 12 year old and the causes need to be ruled out.
