Can we take Cymbalta with elevated ALT?
I have lower jaw pain under ear and Neck for 8 months now. I have been to dentists, endodontist, oral surgeon, ENT, neurologist GP for my jaw and neck pain. It's constant sore , burning pain in jaw under ear and neck. I have small lump like spots in jaw under ear and neck which hurts to touch. I have mild swelling spots in under ear jaw and neck which is tender and sore. Neurologist said it doesn't look like trigeminal neuralgia. He wanted me to try carbamazepine 200mg half tablet a day to see if it helps. I took it for 3 weeks, same symptoms. Neuro want me to take mri brain with contrast to see if nerve is ok. I went to my GP. He said to stop carbamazepine and prescribed me cymbalta 30mg once a day. He said this will help if it's nerve pain. I didn't do mri yet. Worried about mri contrast dye material. Is it harmful? My GP wanted me to take CT neck scan with contrast instead of MRI. So don't know which one to take.I had lab work. Liver ALT is 55.Normal 0-32.Is it ok to take Cymbalta?

Doesn't look like trigeminal neuralgia(TN)  as you said that there tender swellings whereas u don't have swellings in TN.  Further the site is odd for TN. Those swellings could be lymph nodes which can become tender when inflammed. Cymbalta is not problem if ALT is 55.
Next Steps
CBC, USG NECK, FNAC of swelling which can be done under USG guidence
Health Tips
take cap Pantop DSR in morning, plus do gargles and take paracetamol.
