Can I take Reishi while pregnant?
I just found out that I am pregnant, today makes 4 weeks. I suffer from really bad anxiety and occasional depression. I've been prescribed medications, yet I choose not to take them because of the effects they have on my body. My dad just gave me a supplement to try that helps with your mood. It's called Reishi. I am very interested in this because being pregnant my anxiety levels have sky rocketed and I'm very emotional and I've always preferred to go the natural/herbal route as much as possible. Can I take one 400 MG capsule of 10:1 potency Reishi a day without causing any harm to my unborn?

Reishi might have some mild anti anxiety properties but it is mostly used to boost immune system. So taking reishi will any way not help much. However it will not harm the foetus in grave way as organic is always good. You also need to start on folic acid and iron & calcium in your 1st trimester. During pregnancy most drugs are avoided to keet the baby safe. If you still face anxiety issues i would advise to meet up with your psychiatrist as well as gyenacologist. Pregnancy blues is a common issue and can be easily dealt with.
