CABG Postop
My Uncle underwent CABG 2 days ago. However, he is still on ventilator support. They tried to wean him off the ventilator, the day after surgery but he did not respond well. So they put him back on ventilator. The 2nd day after surgery, they now told that there is a complication. There is some blood clot in the lungs. Even though the oxygen supply is turned to 100%, his lungs are only able to utilise 90%. They have said that they have taken all the precautions to stop further clotting in the lungs and will be checking back again tomorrow. I want to know whether the risk of blood clot in lungs after CABG is normal or is it rare? What are the possible steps that the doctor may take next?

It's a known complication post cabg. Need to keep watch whether it's increasing or not and if so may need to drain it. Respiratory physiotherapy is also an important part of post cabg care.
