Your symptoms suggest there may be lacerations around the anus due to the hard stools and by applying pressure. An anal fissure is a small cut or tear in the lining of the anus. The crack in the skin causes severe pain and some bright red bleeding during and after bowel movements. At times the fissure is deep enough to expose the muscle tissue underneath. An anal fissure may occur as a result of childbirth, straining during bowel movements, or long bouts of constipation or diarrhea. Anal fissures can also be the result of certain medical conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), infection, and cancer. I would advise you to visit a general surgeon so that you can be examined and the diagnosis can be confirmed and treated accordingly. These steps may help:
- Do not strain during bowel movements
- Reduce weight as per your BMI (maintain a healthy weight as per your BMI)
- Exercise regularly (30-45 mins everyday)
- Eat food rich in fiber and bran based cereals.
- Have laxatives for strain to be reduced during bowel movements
- Sitting on a Sitz bath may give you some relief.
If the condition is persistent or worsens visit the ER at the earliest

Human beings have a price to pay for their Biped status. Animals dont suffer from piles and fissures, as they are on all 4 feet. We being on our 2 feet have to have strong muscles to guard our lower end of intestines or else one would be passing motions all over. Hence we have a very strong anal sphincter which guards the human against untimely passage of gas, liquid and solids via the anus. The lower end of the intestines is the rectum whoch opens into the last part called the anus. This anus is guarged by two muscles one arranged in circular fashion, and one in verticle manner.
You have some burning feeling and feel that the butt hole has become small. This sensation could be due to two factors, one could be a local infection, which makes the itching intense. Also the muscles around the anus could have gone into spasm. This can be due to constipation or a fissure caused by hard motion which when pushed by the person in hard manner, can cause a tear on the walls of the anus. This is the anal fissure. when it happens, the muscles around the anus go into spasm and cause the anus to be tighter than usual.
Next Steps
Please go and get examined by a surgeon. Doctor will see if there is a fissure and if it is there he may give local ointments to ease the pain and help healing. This is usually combined with use of stool softeners and sometimes surgeons may recommend a dilatation of these muscles which is done under anesthesia. So dont suffer, meet a surgeon ASAP
Health Tips
Taking fiber rich food like cucumber, oranges, sweet lime, watermelon either of these along with carrot or radish, beet root and dark green elafy vegetables like spinach, methi, spring onion leaves, lettuce in raw form will help you have soft motions. Cooking can destroy the fibers in these vegetables so consume them raw after good washing.
