Blue nails in newborn
My baby boy is 15 days old..his nails are blue,more like purple colour(only on finger nails)..i wonder what causes it? i had c section..does that have anything to do with it?..worried abt my little one..pls nd Thank you.

Bluish discoloration points towards cynosis, a term we use in our field.
Normally, if the bluish discoloration is transient, then it points cold weather and giving warmth, improves skin color to Pink.
But, if it is present for more than a day then, I advise you must seek opinion of Neonatologist ASAP.
In such cases, the major cause could be, Cynotic Heart Disease.
No need to worry, since we almost all conditions can be treated well and that too in Chennai.

Possibly due to a heart condition
