Birth Control Working - If I Start The Next Pack( Am On Birth

If I start the next pack( am on birth control for 5 months) from day 2 /3 of periods which is the 7th pill free day of last pack Am I protected right away or I have to wait for 7 days for pill to start working As in I waa given the instruction for the first pack wait for 7 days before safety But when I'm continuing the birth control and have already used 5 packs and on 6th pack and starting from day 3 of periods which is the 7th pill free day of last pack Am I protected right away?
