Hi, I had a question related to the birth control pill Yaz. So I've been on the pill for 5 months now and have never missed a day nor have I paused in between packs except for the 4 day placebo pills recoommended to get your period. On the instructions manual it says to use other protection besides birth control for 7 days when starting a new pack of Yaz. Does this apply to every time you start a new pack or just the first time starting the pill?

Hello.
If you have been on placebo with Yaz ocpills than its a pack of 28 pills.
If you've started it during 2nd to 5th day of your period and never skipped a pill ( as you've mentioned) but, but,
As the 28th day placebo you've taken and the day while you are on placebo you must have menstruated. And after 28th day the next day to restart a new pill cycle must be counted as very 1st day of new pill cycle.
So if you've followed so for 5 months than there is no need to have extra protection for 7 days.
Next Steps
When you should be cautious?:
1. When you've missed more than 2 pills consecutive.
2. When you've started new pills pack after more than 7 days of duration.
3. When ever you've loose motion and vomiting for few days while you are on pills.
Health Tips
1. Have your 1st pill cycle start on the second day of menses.
2. If you are using 21 days pills than resume the next pill strip on the very 1st day after pill free 7 days.
3. Never miss a pill.
4. If you've missed pills for more than 2 days always use extra barrier protection for pregnancy.

Whether you are trying to clear up your skin , regularise your period s or ease disruptive and painful PMS, keep in mind that hormonal birth control pills which you are taking are only masking the symptoms and are not solving the problem.
Your body is actually trying to tell you something! And these pills are not free of side effects.
The synthetic estrogen in birth control pills can cause short term side effects like GI upset, mood swings, irregular bleeding or spotting.
And even scarier than the “mild” side effects are the serious health risks that accompany birth control pills. These include:
Increased risk of cervical and breast cancers
Increased risk of heart attack and stroke
Migraines
Higher blood pressure
Gallbladder disease
Infertility
Benign liver tumors
Decreased bone density
Yeast overgrowth and infection
Increased risk of blood clotting
Cancer, heart disease, stroke, infertility.
Surely these side effects make birth control pills a less than desirable option for contraception, and even less desirable for masking acne, period problems and pcod.
Good news is that all your problems can be totally reversed , not by masking the symptoms with pills but by addressing the underlying cause of the problem and healing it from the ROOT cause.
Hope it helps.....
