I believe you were not properly counseled before your previous surgery! Otosclerosis is an incurable disease which begins by demineralising the ear ossicles and gradually progresses into the cochlea and ultimately completely destroys it along with your hearing! The surgery only bypasses the damaged ossicles in early otosclerosis by replacing them with a piston. Remember, even after the surgery, the disease continues to progress and usually by the 15-20th year, you end up completely deaf! I suggest you get a High resolution CT scan of the Temporal Bones to evaluate the progression of the disease! If it has invaded the cochlea, I am afraid, there is nothing to be done about it. BEST OPTION: Use bone conduction hearing aids to transfer the sound signals incident onthe Right Ear to the better hearing Left Cochlea.

Hello there..... The individual with otosclerosis has several options. If the degree of hearing loss is minimal and only affects one ear, no intervention can be considered...... This surgery is called stapedectomy, meaning removal of the stapes bone. After removal of the stapes bone (which is not properly vibrating), a small window is made to the inner ear. An artificial replacement made out of teflon and platinum or other material is then substituted for the non-functioning stapes bone... Consult Ent surgeon for further advice....
