Good morning, Sir! You see, actually avastin is also antiVEGF. The only difference is it is OFF LABEL use which means it is not FDA approved. It was mainly manufactured for the treatment of cancer but later found to be useful for the eye also. it is cheaper than the other antiVEGF agents which is why it is popular in India, money being an important factor in considering treatment. However you need to know the risks, as the drug avastin in the vial is more than what is required for one patient, it is divided into several doses so that it can be used for more than one patient. Though your mother will get a separate injection if it is avastin, by virtue of splitting the dose between patients, there is a slightly increased risk of developing infection compared to the more expensive prefilled single injection.
Next Steps
If you can afford go for the best, however if money is an issue then avastin is still being given to many patients in many centres. It is an accepted practice.
Health Tips
Please go to a renowned and reputed centre where all safety measures are being taken.

There are a number of ANTI VEGF injections. Avastin is one of them. Others are Accenteix / Eylea. The choice depends on the condition. For BRVO, you can go for avastin or Accenteix depending on affordability.
