Appendicitis - Further course of action
Patient diagnosed with acute appendicitis (picture attached). She was given saline drip for 2 days and then discharged yesterday. Medicines prescribed to heal infection for now. Here are our concerns: 1. Is laparoscopic surgery recommended? Can she only rely on medicines and not opt for surgery? What would you advise? 2. The doctor diagnosed her with acute condition. Should we worry about this? 3. Should she go for surgery immediately or wait for a month? She will finish her school exams within a month. Can she wait till the end of her exams? 4. We needed a second opinion on the medicines prescribed (picture attached). Kindly let us know if they are alright.

Hello there. I can understand your concern. I'm sorry but you haven't done half the things you have said. 1. Yes surgery is necessary. Surgery is the only treatment. That's the second opinion about surgery. You cannot just keep taking medicines and adjusting. Well, you can at your own risk. Who am i to say no. 2.yes, you should worry about it. It's not a simple issue like a cold. 3. She can wait for few days but not more. 4. Haven't attached anything. Best regards. Dr. Anil Kumar Jain. Bangalore.
