Anal fissures
Hey Doc! Hope you're doing well. Let me tell you about myself. I'm a gay guy and I got anal fissures like two years ago during a sexual activity. Now, the fissures seem to be healed but there is still a black ring around my anus opening that hurts from time to time (Read: while passing hard stools or trying to have anals again). Since then, my sexual life has never been the same. Its been two years now and still, whenever someone goes down there, it hurts like an open wound. Please suggest what should I do! Also, this is a topic that I feel very scared and shy to discuss with someone. Its only the comfort of hiding behind the screen that allowed me to discuss my issue so openly. Please advise. Many Thanks:- R. Prashar Sharma

Hi.... Anal fissure usually heals on its own within four to six weeks. If it doesn't, medical treatment or surgery usually can relieve discomfort.... Add fiber to your diet. Fiber-rich foods include fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains..... Drink adequate fluids. Fluids help prevent constipation.....Exercise regularly. Engage in 30 minutes or more of moderate physical activity, such as walking, most days of the week. Exercise promotes regular bowel movements and increases blood flow to all parts of your body, which may promote healing of an anal fissure.... Avoid straining during bowel movements. Straining creates pressure, which can open a healing tear or cause a new tear....
