Why are you not able to open your mouth? Is it because of the pain or swelling or what? If your jaw is getting locked plz start mouth opening exercises immediately. Open your mouth ever if it hurts or you have to use force. It could be because of the injection needle. Start warm saline rinses.

Hi sir. It is not due to local anesthesia nor paresthesia. You are unable to open the mouth because of swelling and tight pulling effect of the stitches placed. Please do mouth opening exercise otherwise your muscles will get tightened and dentist has to help in opening. You can use ice cream sticks. Place it one over the other and tie with rubber band. Bite it in between your teeth. Next day add one more stick to it and bite. Add one one stick daily untill your 3 fingers go inside. That is how you do mouth opening exercise.

Please do mouth opening exercises. Open your mouth slowly like how you have opened before tooth removal. Slowly open and close. Do it for ten times. And repeat after sometime. By doing this., your mouth opening will become normal. Do visit your dentist again if you’re scared to open your mouth by yourself.

You are unable to open mouth mostly because of swelling around the extraction area.swelling usually starts to subside after 3 to 5 days and may get normal within a week or 10 days. You can get back to work probably after 5 to 7 days.
