What's the main reason behind this ?

Hello Doctor, I wanted to consult you regarding my delayed period and pregnancy test result. My last unprotected intercourse was on 10 September, and I took a home pregnancy test on 1 October, which was 21 days after the intercourse. The test result was negative, but I still haven’t gotten my period. Could you please advise me on what I should do next? Is there any possibility of pregnancy despite the negative test, or could there be another reason for the delayed period? Should I repeat the pregnancy test or undergo any other tests?

A single home pregnancy test done 21 days after intercourse can still come back negative even if you are pregnant. This can happen when ovulation occurs later than expected that cycle.
Next Steps
If your period still hasn't started, repeat the pregnancy test after another 5 to 7 days using your first morning urine.
Health Tips
If it stays negative and your period doesn't come back in two weeks, please see a gynaecologist for further evaluation to find the reason.
