What does a neck Ultrasound show?
Hello doctors,
I just want to know what can a neck ultrasound show? Pls answer some points of mine:
1. Can it show any irregularities with my tonsils?
2. Can it show any irregularities with my voice box/larynx?
Will it be able to show the above two irregularities?
No an ultrasound cannot show what u have mentioned for that u need an upper airway endoscopy and an Contrast CT scan. An ultrasound can only show abnormalities in thyroid, subamndibular parotid galnds, or any lymph node and characteristic of any lump in neck, or any vascular abnormalities.

No USG neck will not show any Pathology of Tonsils because of air behind the tonsils which will not refect the sounds. Likewise Voicebox is air filled these structures cannot be seen well using USG neck.
