What do I need to know before arthroscopy surgery

I am due to have arthroscopy surgery in the last week of this month. Can someone tell me what all preparations are required before the surgery? Also, what are the risks involved in this surgery? It would be great if a health practitioner can tell me all the things one ought to know before the surgery. Your responses would be appreciated!
