Hello doctors. My TSH value is 19.713 uIU/ml in the thyroid profile. Can this be reduced with medication? If yes, which ones might help?

Hi, Your TSH levels are on the higher side. I would need to see the entire thyroid profile and get to know your symptoms to understand what you are suffering from Just a TSH report means nothing Kindly connect with all your labs and we can reach a conclusive diagnosis to plan your treatment

It indicates hypothyroidism and is treatable with tab thyroxine. Provide more information like your body weight, symptoms, to  decide the dose of thyroxine.

You have hypothyroidism. In Indians, the most common cause is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, which is an autoimmune condition. It requires lifelong thyroid hormone supplementation, but don’t worry — it can be very well controlled with regular medication. Please start Tab Thyroxine 100 mcg ( assuming your weight to be around 60 kgs based on your height ) once daily on an empty stomach in the morning. Repeat TSH, free T3, and free T4 after six weeks of starting the medication. Based on those results, we can adjust the dose if needed. After that, these tests should be repeated every six months to monitor your thyroid function.
Next Steps
Medication and follow up
