A. Moisturizing (most important)
• Use thick, fragrance-free emollients like Cetraben, Venusia Max, Atogla, Cetaphil DAM, or plain petroleum jelly (Vaseline).
• Apply within 3 minutes of bathing (“soak and seal method”).
• Reapply 2–3 times/day especially on affected areas.
B. Bathing Tips
• Use lukewarm water (not hot).
• Limit baths to 10 mins.
• Use gentle cleansers: Cetaphil Restoraderm, QV Wash, or even plain Dove bar.
• Avoid loofahs and harsh scrubbing.
C. Medication (for Flare Control & Maintenance)
Topical Steroids
• Mometasone, fluticasone (medium potency): once daily for active lesions.
• Apply only a thin layer, stop once inflammation settles.
Topical Calcineurin Inhibitors
• Tacrolimus 0.03% or 0.1% ointment: great for face, folds, and long-term control.
• Use at night, mild burning may occur initially.
Next Steps
Avoid woolens, perfumes, harsh detergents, stress, and over-bathing.
• Patch testing (done by dermatologists) can identify hidden allergens (nickel, fragrances, etc.)
Health Tips
Virgin coconut oil post-bath as a natural moisturizer.
• Wet-wrap therapy during severe flares (damp cotton cloth over steroid/ointment, then dry layer over it).
• Oatmeal baths (Colloidal oats, or homemade powder) – very soothing.
