Is there any effective treatment available for chicken pox? My sister has been showing symptoms for the past 5 days and appears to be prone to this disease. What immediate steps should we take, and which specialist should we consult?

Hi there. Yes there is effective treatment for chicken pox. However, this has to be started as early as possible in the disease process or progression. There is no such thing as 'prone to a disease' unless there is some sort of immunocompromised issue. A viral disease (like chicken pox) is easily transmitted to those not immunized and even if vaccinated, can develop the disease albeit in a less aggressive form. More details and clear pics will be required to arrive at a diagnosis and suggest proper treatment.
