Hi     You have have undergone total thyroidectomy for palliative thyroid carcinoma which is a well differentiated type of thyroid carcinoma which generally has a good prognosis. U need to undergo radioiodine scan to look for distant metastases. Based on biopsy report and radioiodine scan you are going to get classified as low, intermediate or high risk depending on factors such as size of tumor, lymph nodes positive for carcinoma, thyroglobulin levels and presence or absence of distant metastases. You need radioiodine therapy if you falk into intermediate ir high risk.

Hi, you have undergone total thyroidectomy and the biopsy is showing papillary carcinoma. Usually in papillary carcinoma surgery alone would not be sufficient. You have to undergo radioactive iodine treatment to eradicate microscopic disease. As for as your symptoms of throat pain and cold . It is common after this surgery. It is better to take oral antibiotics and some throat soothers
