Since her last TT booster was only 6 months ago (January 2026), she is well within the 5-year protection window and does not need another booster for a routine wound. However, a wound from falling on dusty ground with skin rupture is a dirty, contaminated wound â for such wounds in elderly patients with uncertain primary vaccination history, many guidelines recommend giving a TT booster if the last dose was more than 5 years ago, but since hers was only 6 months ago, she is adequately covered. Clean and dress the wound well.
Next Steps
Clean the wound thoroughly with soap and water and apply antiseptic. Cover with a sterile dressing and check daily for signs of infection (redness, swelling, pus, fever). No additional tetanus injection is needed given the recent January 2026 dose. If the wound is deep or has significant tissue damage, get it evaluated by a doctor in person.
