Tetanus injection

2026-06-29 10:22:10
I have taken tetanus injection full course as a kid and one dose at October 2025 and one dose immediately after an injury on 26 june 2026. Can I develop tetanus and what is the probability and I am really anxious about this as it is almost life threatening. I am also taking Amoxicillin and potassium clavulanate, paracetamol.

You are very well protected against tetanus. You had the full childhood course, a dose in October 2025 (just 8 months ago), and another dose immediately after the injury — this is exactly the right protocol. With two recent doses and a childhood full course, your immunity is at its maximum. The probability of developing tetanus is essentially zero. Please do not be anxious — you have done everything correctly.
Next Steps
No further tetanus action is needed. Continue the antibiotics and paracetamol as prescribed for the wound, and ensure the wound is kept clean and dressed. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.

Very low risk. You can show your wound in a video call,  then I can guide you further.

Hello. Based on the information you shared, you have completed your childhood tetanus vaccination, received a booster in October 2025, and another tetanus injection immediately after the injury. This provides excellent protection, so the likelihood of developing tetanus is extremely low.
Next Steps
Continue the prescribed antibiotics only as advised by your treating doctor, keep the wound clean, and watch for proper healing.
Health Tips
If you develop increasing redness, swelling, pus, fever, or symptoms such as jaw stiffness or muscle spasms, seek medical attention promptly, though these are very unlikely in your situation. Try not to worry—your vaccination history is reassuring.

with recent antibiotics and no deep dirty wound, tetanus risk is very low. Do not take antibiotics without prescription to avoid resistance. A video consultation can reassure you. Feel free to book one.
