Hello, You need to visit a dentist to get the gums checked. If the swelling is only due to the viral factor, then you have nothing to worry about.Use Dologel-CT 5-6 times a day over the gums for a week and use a good antibacterial mouthwash. It may take sometime to regress.Regards,Dr Suman Makam,Dental Arts,Jayanagar.

Ulcers or swelling following viral infection is a common occurrence. It would ttake 10 days or so to heal completely. Applying a anesthetic gel (mucopain) 15 min before having food would give little comfort to have solid foods. Drink lots of fluids. If fever is still persisting please visit a doctor, an antiviral tablet may be prescribed if needed and necessary tests can be done.
