My Nana , who is a patient of type 2 diabetes, his sugar comes at 50, has been in ICU twice in a month, does mental health also get affected due to hypoglycemia? he does not have peace in his mind, he is stressed. please tell me the solution What should we do for his sudden low sugar level? He was a regular smoker but after this he quit smoking , please help me with the next course of action

Blood sugar fluctuation is common given his age....frequent monitoring of blood glucose is the key...have to check sevaral times ( atleast 3 times - before food and 1 time-  before sleep). We can get to know the exact situation and taper the dose of necessary....

He need to monitor his sugar 4 time daily , fasting and 2 hrs after each meal to know days range and then accordingly his medication need to be adjusted. You can come to my clinic if needed

Hi., I can understand your concern. Yes., hypoglycemic episodes can affect mental health. Regularly monitor his sugar levels both FBS and PPBS. Share details about his medicines, by decreasing the dose, we can treat hypoglycemia. You can give tab. dextrose 5 mg, one tablet, when sugar is below 70.
