If mild,avoid unnecessary medicine and just give steam inhalations for cold and cough and decongestant nasal drops for nasal block or increased cough on lying down and give paracetamol for fever if required. If not improving OR accompanied by other symptoms like wheezing or breathlessness or dullness and refusal to feed,consult your paediatrician.

Kindly consult with a pediatrician for your child's condition. It is not advisable to give any cough syrup randomly. Child needs physical examination and only then medication can be administered depending on the presence or absence of chest congestion etc
