Breast milk supply can fluctuate temporarily due to stress, poor sleep, reduced feeding/pumping frequency, dehydration, illness, periods returning, or baby starting solids. Most cases improve with frequent effective feeding.
Continue breastfeeding on demand every 2-3 hours and avoid long gaps. Let baby empty one breast well before switching. Skin-to-skin contact, proper latch, good sleep, fluids, and adequate meals are more important than supplements alone.
Next Steps
monitor whether baby is passing adequate urine (at least 5-6 times/day), active, and gaining weight normally. If these are normal, often the milk is still sufficient even if breasts feel less full.
Health Tips
If supply remains low for more than a few days, baby seems unsatisfied, urine output decreases, or weight gain is poor, kindly consult a pediatrician/lactation consultant to check feeding technique and maternal factors like stress, anemia,
thyroid issues, etc.
