The decision to have an surgery is based on many factors - symptoms, their duration, severity, the progression of symptoms, what treatment has been taken, whether the treatment has been effective in relieving the symptoms and the investigation reports such as X-ray and MRI. As such for any condition, surgery is rarely offered by doctors as first line of treatment unless there is no other treatment available. The mode of treatment therefore depends on the findings of your clinical examination, the latest reports and the best possible treatment available in your particular case. As for any surgery, spine is a successful procedure when done for right indications and by well trained surgeons. Please seek an physical consultation to be guided for best possible treatment for your case. Dr. Chirag Patel, Joints & Sports Clinic, Mumbai www.drpatelchirag.com +91 75748 87777
