I got heel pain for nearly 2 weeks and I was limping.Today MRI report shows that I have a stress fracture in my calcaneum for which X-ray was normal a week ago. My doctor asked for complete bed rest for 4 weeks with no weight on the foot. Will I have a deformity from malunion of bones as no reduction is done by the doctor. How long will this take to heal? Will I be able to walk normally again? Please help.

Stress fractures are not your normal fractures where we need to reset the bone or realign them so they can heal in the correct position. Stress fracture is a crack only. In a weak part of the bone. And heals often without even diagnosis. Many ppl who don't get mri dont even know and get healed after a few weeks. You don't need a month. You just need to rest till you can take weight without pain. Once pain goes you can walk. Make sure you get vitamin B12 and D injection for quick healing
Next Steps
rest assured
Health Tips
get vitamin levels checked and take injection if need

Yes you'll be able to walk normally once the fracture heals after adequate time for it to rest
