Stray Cat bite Rabies vaccine?

2022-06-30 13:33:49
I had a cat bite/scratch on Sunday (day 0). I'm not sure because it just attacked and ran. It was a stray mostly unvaccinated. Very minor. Few drops of blood. I took a TT injection + Rabivax S (1 dose) on the same day. Took second dose of Rabivax S on day 3. Today is day 4. I never had any fever or pus on the bite wound. There's no pain or stomach ache. Not even a headache. - My local gp told me don't take any rabies doses, cats don't have rabies (but i still took) - 3 doctors told me take 1, 3, 5 doses.( All said different) - A vet told me take 3 doses. Questions - 1. Should I take another dose (3) on day 7 ? 2. Should I take all 5 doses? Please help. Thanks.

As a post exposure prophylaxis If you haven't taken any dose previously then you should take 5 dose of rabies infection at 0,3,7,14 ,28 with Rabies Immunoglobulin 1 dose. Actually in the your case it's cat bite so most doctor said take only 3 dose but according to rule 5 dose is necessary if not taken previously.
Next Steps
Keep record of vaccination.
