My Suger FBS-126 and PP 184 and Hb1ac-7.4.my Doctor suggest me long acting insulin one shot per day(12 unit) for 3 month with existing medicin.Dr said that it is beneficial and prevent organ damage and also beneficial for Pancreas.I am confuse what should i do.please.

It’s helpful in effectively controlling sugar . Take the insulin in morning before breakfast and control your diet with adequate protein intake and avoid sweets and any type of sugar or juices . Take a retest if this is 3 months prior report and consult the physician along with prior report to modify the insulin dosage or stop if well controlled

Insulin as per guidelines is to be started at an hba1c of more than 9 . In your situation to comment , we would need the list of meds your on . Based on those meds , it would be feasible to advice whether to add meds and get your hba1c under control or take a call on starting insulin
