The posterior ligamentous injury is a indication for surgery. A minimally invasive spine surgery make the patient mobilise the next day. Provided there is no neurological deficit... Spine fixation is best option.
Next Steps
Standing xray to see if the interspinous area is opening on weight bearing... If possible.
Health Tips
If any neurological deficit is present better to get operated as soon as possible

Spine injury is a serious injury and requires timely treatment. The decision for surgery is not based only on imaging but it is based on patient examination and reports. It is therefore advisable to trust your Orthopaedician and follow the advice. Loosing time in gaining more opinions could be detrimental to your patient as timely surgical intervention is one of the most important factors in patient recovery.
