Sound near to knee bone

My father reports two problems 1. There is a sharp pain on his left hand area at a single point. He went to Ortho, he scanned and found nothing abnormal. Gave Uric acid tablets for a week and no improvement - what should we do next ? 2. In both his legs , below the knee joint he says he is hearing some sound at times and sometime legs are bending while walking ( not much of bending ) .. but he is not in a condition where he can't walk or anything . He is going to shops by walk but this issue is there for last few days , more than a week. Please advise what we should do for both cases ? What are the root causes for the issues ?

Pain in hand can be due to tendinitis, while pain in knees can b due to arthritis. Xray is needed for proper diagnosis and further treatment.
