Should I see doctor about a knee injury

I smacked my knee on a concrete stair 5-8 years ago. I remember it was bruised for several months and my parents never took me to the doctor. It doesn't hurt when I walk but, sometimes it locks up. It also has this horrible pain if it's hit slightly. Occasionally it will hurt out of no where. It also has a really odd soft spot when the patella should be. Besides that it doesn't bother me. I hate the doctor I feel like they're not gonna tell me

Needs evaluation from an orthopaedic surgeon. Please see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. likely cause of locking can be a meniscal tear or an associated cartilage defect. cause of pain may also be a neuroma which hurts without touch/movement/injury.

Get an MRI scan to rule out any meniscal problem.
