Routine lungs test

2026-06-28 15:21:50
Hello! I am planning to get some tests done for lungs. Apart from X-ray, should I go for just PFT or Spirometry as well? This will be a routine checkup. I do get shortness of breath from time to time. Thanks

Shortness of breath on and off is vague term it depends on diurnal and postural variations associated all ergies or wheeze or sneeze or any seasonal variation any leg swelling
Health Tips
First proper clinical evaluation by pulmonologist Then decide on test

Cause of breathlessness doesnot include only lungs. It can be due to cardiac pathology, due to anemia, etc , etc. Consult a pulmonologist for proper diagnosis and treatment

Lung function tests alone cannot be sufficient for a diagnosis of shortness of breath, need to correlate clinically, need proper history before going for a lung test ,better to consult a pulmonologist before doing routine tests

You can take PFT alone yearly once as like other master health check up. If there is any abnormalilty spirometry can be recommended. Consult a Pulmonologist for further information
