Root canal infection

Hi, I had got a root canal done many years ago and 3 years back I started having tooth ache in the same. My dentist detected an infection and suggested some medicine for the infection and the problem subsided. However the pain is back now and I am not in India at present to consult the dentist personally. Could some dentist kindly suggest some medicine for the infection which can be found over the counter in North America/Canada. Or please suggest the formula which I should be looking for. Much appreciated help since I am here for six months and will consult once I am back in India. Need a temporary fix as of now. Thank you!
