NSVT cannot be diagnosed just from a pulse rate reading â it requires an ECG or Holter monitor to actually capture and confirm the type of rhythm during the episode. So while 133 bpm during a 4-5 second pounding sensation is definitely worth investigating, you cannot conclude it's NSVT without proper documentation.
That said â yes, stress and anxiety can trigger cardiac arrhythmias including benign runs of palpitations. Health anxiety is particularly known to cause intense awareness of your heartbeat, along with anxiety-driven sinus tachycardia (where the heart races simply due to adrenaline). At 25 with no structural heart disease, most palpitations are benign â usually PVCs (premature ventricular contractions) or sinus tachycardia.
What you should do:
1. See a cardiologist and request a 24-48 hour Holter monitor â this records your heart rhythm continuously and can capture future episodes.
2. Get a resting ECG and an Echo to rule out any structural heart issue.
3. Work on your health anxiety â this is very important. 7 months of health anxiety worsens palpitations in a vicious cycle. A consultation with a psychiatrist or psychologist for CBT can break this cycle significantly.
Try not to measure your pulse compulsively during episodes as this feeds the anxiety loop.
