Your symptoms—an urgent need to urinate, passing only small amounts, and this happening for 1–2 months—suggest irritation of the bladder or urethra, which can be due to a mild UTI, inflammation, low water intake, or caffeine. This kind of urinary urgency is common and not dangerous. Increase your water intake to 2–3liters daily and use a urine alkalizer for a few days. If symptoms continue or burning appears, a short antibiotic may be needed after doing a urine test. Get a urine routine and culture if symptoms last more than 5 days, if you have burning, fever, or blood in urine.

This is most commonly due to urinary urgency, bladder irritation, or sometimes mild prostatitis (in males). It usually is not serious but should be evaluated if it lasts weeks. Common causes: Mild urinary tract irritation / infection Prostatitis (common in men 20–45) Overactive bladder Caffeine, tea, spicy foods Not drinking enough water Anxiety/stress causing bladder sensitivity What you can do now: Increase water intake (2–2.5 L/day). Avoid tea, coffee, energy drinks, spicy food, alcohol for a week. Don't hold urine for long. Try warm water sitz bath for 10–15 min (helps if prostatitis-type irritation). If burning or fever → get urine routine & culture. You should get tests if: Symptoms persist >2–3 weeks Burning, fever, lower abdominal pain Blood in urine If you want, tell me: Any burning? Any lower abdomen/penis pain? Frequency increased at night? Your age? I can guide more precisely.

As per your history Your symptoms — • feeling like you need to urinate immediately, • going to the washroom but only a small amount comes out, • urine coming later, • happening for the last 1–2 months — suggest irritation of the bladder or urethra, commonly due to: 1. Mild urinary tract infection (UTI) 2. Urethral inflammation 3. Bladder hypersensitivity due to low water intake 4. Caffeine/tea excess 5. Vaginal or pelvic floor irritation This type of “frequent urge but low urine output” is called urinary urgency, and it is very common in women. The good news: This is treatable and NOT dangerous.
Next Steps
1. Increase your water intake Drink 2–2.5 liters per day. This alone reduces urgency in many patients. 2. Start a urine alkalizer Any ONE of the following: • Cital syrup • Alkasol • Soda mint tablets Take 1–2 times/day for 5 days. This reduces burning, urgency, and bladder irritation. 3. If symptoms persist or you have burning A short antibiotic may be needed: • Nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice daily for 5 days But this should ideally be started after a urine test. 4. Avoid bladder irritants for 1 week • Tea & coffee • Spicy food • Carbonated drinks • Too little water • Holding urine too long When to Get a Urine Test Do a Urine Routine & Culture if: • Symptoms last >5 days • Pain/burning happens • Fever occurs • Blood seen in urine This will tell exactly if infection is present.
Health Tips
You’re experiencing urinary urgency because your bladder is irritated, likely due to mild UTI or low water intake. Increase water, use a urine alkalizer for a few days, and if symptoms continue, get a urine test and a short antibiotic course. It is common and completely treatable.

I am assuming your periods are regular and you are not pregnant. Sometimes the urine bladder (which is basically muscle in the shape of a bag) does not relax and that can give symptoms like you describe where you get an urgency to go but not a lot of urine comes only to them empty later. We call it Overactive bladder or Hyperreflexive bladder. This is a very common condition. Can be helped by reducing caffeine (which is present in coffee, tea, coco cola like drinks etc) and also by avoiding alcohol. People who are anxious get these symptoms much more than others. Saying that, also have the following tests to check for anything else. (1. Urine Microscopy and culture 2. Blood sugar check 3. Ultrasound of urine bladder and kidneys). All the best. J G S R

Hello, The symptoms you’re describing feeling the urge to urinate but only a small amount coming out, delayed flow, and repeated episodes for 1–2 months commonly point towards lower urinary tract irritation. In young females, this usually happens due to: Mild inflammation of the bladder (early cystitis) Pelvic floor muscle tightening due to stress/anxiety Incomplete emptying habits Dehydration or poor water intake Hormonal fluctuations Lifestyle triggers (holding urine for long, excessive tea/coffee, etc.) What’s important is that this pattern should not be ignored if it has been happening for weeks, because untreated bladder irritation can progress into recurrent infections. Before giving any specific treatment, you need a proper evaluation of: Your fluid intake pattern Any burning, pain, or change in urine smell Any recent stress or lifestyle change Whether symptoms worsen around your periods Your exact urine flow pattern Once those details are clear, the problem can be corrected with the right step-wise approach. Most cases improve very quickly when managed properly. If you want a personalised plan including diet changes, bladder training, and when to consider tests you can message me privately. Reach me on w.h.a.t.s.a.p.p nine three two six zero two zero five three six for a detailed one-to-one consultation.
