2026-03-12 14:42:57
I had recently done Vitamin d test to check vitamin d levels in my body. I had done '25 OH Vitamin D Total' test. My result was 10.42 ng/ml. What to do? Can i take any vitamin d tablets on my own without any prescription, if yes, please suggest.

Your Vitamin D level is low. Sun exposure and vitamin D supplements are usually needed to correct it. Please consult me so I can guide the correct dose and duration for you.

Your **25‑Hydroxy Vitamin D Test result of 10.42 ng/mL indicates Vitamin D deficiency. Normally, Vitamin D levels should be above 30 ng/mL for optimal health. Low Vitamin D can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, bone pain, and low immunity, and it is quite common, especially in people with limited sunlight exposure. This condition is known as **Vitamin D Deficiency.
Next Steps
You can usually start supplementation. A commonly used regimen is: • **Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) 60,000 IU once weekly for about 6–8 weeks. • After that, a maintenance dose once monthly may be advised. • It is also useful to check **Serum Calcium Test if supplementation continues long term. Vitamin D tablets or sachets are widely available and generally safe when taken in recommended doses.
Health Tips
• Get 15–20 minutes of sunlight exposure daily, preferably morning sunlight. • Include Vitamin D rich foods such as eggs, fatty fish, fortified milk, and mushrooms. • Take Vitamin D after a meal containing some fat, as it improves absorption. • Repeat the Vitamin D test after about 3 months to ensure levels have improved. If you would like, you can book an online consultation and share your symptoms or other reports, and I can guide you on the exact dose and duration best suited for you.
