Your baby may be going through a short phase of breast refusal due to distraction or sensitivity. It’s very common at this age and should resolve on its own. Keep offering feeds in a calm, quiet space, especially when baby is sleepy

Even without obvious illness, some subtle factors can cause this: • Teething discomfort (even early teething around 4 months). • Overstimulation or a change in environment or routine. • Change in mother’s scent (e.g., new soap or deodorant). • Slow or fast milk letdown (frustrating the baby). • Recent vaccinations or mild discomfort. • Minor oral issues like ulcers, thrush, or tongue tie discomfort. It sounds like a temporary nursing strike. Try feeding when he’s sleepy, use skin-to-skin contact, and stay calm. Ensure he’s passing 5–6 wet diapers/day. If refusal continues over 1–2 days or he shows other symptoms, see a pediatrician.
