RCT and cap

My kid 6 1/2 yrs old had tooth decay in molar teeth,Dr. explained us that the third root has been infected and recommended for RCT which is done last week filling have been done after RCT. Is it now necessary to place cap which is going to fall after 4 yrs?.

As explained by my erstwhile colleagues a cap/crown is needed if the tooth is badly damaged and lot of tooth structure is replaced by a filling ...Also since there's a long time for the tooth to fall off there is risk of breakage of the tooth further ...Hence a stainless steel crown is given usually
