Rabies vaccine given in Gluteal Region

2025-03-20 05:54:44
I was bitten by a stray dog. First dose and second dose of anti rabies vaccine was given to my Gluteal Region. But afterwards I found out that it is not recommended to have anti rabies vaccine in Gluteal Region. Should I take all my 3 remaining vaccine in my Gluteal Region or Should I take my vaccine at Deltoid Muscle and count it as my first dose of vaccination and then continue the remaining doses at Deltoid Muscle?

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your concern regarding the administration of the rabies vaccine. It is crucial to ensure that the rabies vaccine is administered correctly to maximize its effectiveness. Here are some important points to consider: 1. **Administration Site**: The rabies vaccine is recommended to be given in the deltoid muscle (upper arm) for adults. The gluteal region (buttocks) is not the preferred site because it may result in lower antibody response. 2. **Current Situation**: Since you have already received the first two doses in the gluteal region, it is advisable to continue the remaining doses in the deltoid muscle. This will help ensure that you receive the full protective benefit of the vaccine. 3. **Consultation**: It is important to consult with a healthcare provider to discuss your vaccination schedule and any concerns you may have. I strongly recommend a consultation to ensure that your vaccination is administered correctly and to address any further questions. For further consultation and to discuss your health in detail, you can reach me directly on WhatsApp at **Eight Zero Zero Nine Eight Two One Three Three Two**. Take care .
