Tests done by Glucometer at home are for follow up of the patient. For the first diagnosis it is better to get the test done from the Pathology lab.

If FBS : 8 am then PLBS or PPBS : 10 am Fasting blood sugar test (FBS): This test measures the level of glucose in the blood after an overnight fast of at least 8 hours. It is usually conducted in the morning before breakfast. Fasting blood sugar levels are used to diagnose and monitor diabetes. Normal fasting blood sugar levels typically range between 70 to 125 mg/dL, although the exact range may vary slightly depending on the laboratory and individual factors. Postprandial blood sugar test (PPBS): This test measures blood glucose levels 2 hours after consuming a meal or a glucose solution. It helps assess how well the body processes glucose after eating. Postprandial blood sugar levels are used to evaluate diabetes control and detect impaired glucose tolerance. Typically, a postprandial blood sugar level of less than 140 mg/dL is considered normal.

Lab tests generally demonstrate a higher level of accuracy than personal blood glucose meters, as  the Glucometers can have a slight margin of error.Glucometers are used mainly for the monitoring of blood glucose levels at home. You can test fasting glucose level after 8 hours of fasting ,PLBS 2 hours after the meals
