Post Typhoid gastric issue

2025-08-11 23:29:30
I have completed my course of medicines and it's been a week, I still feel gastric after eating food. Sometimes it is too much that my stomach hurts and then either I sit in padmasan or walk for 15 mins and the gas goes off. Is it normal? How many days should u wait to start eating food from outside.

The symptoms could be due typhoid infection or the medicines you have used.As you were infected with typhoid recently, avoid eating the food from outside, for a few weeks.

What you’re describing is quite common after a recent episode of typhoid. Even after the bacteria is cleared, the intestinal lining and gastric motility remain sensitive for a few weeks. This can cause gas, bloating, and abdominal discomfort, especially after heavier or oily meals.
Next Steps
✅ Eat small, light, frequent meals. ✅ Stick to easily digestible food: khichdi, curd rice, dalia, boiled vegetables, fruits (banana, papaya). ✅ Probiotics (curd, buttermilk, or pharmacy-based probiotics) help restore gut bacteria. ✅ Avoid fried, oily, spicy, and junk foods for at least 2–3 more weeks. ✅ Drink enough water. ✅ Continue gentle walking after meals if it helps relieve gas. When to restart outside food: Ideally wait 3–4 weeks after recovery, and even then start gradually (soft, freshly prepared food — not street food or very spicy dishes). Complete normalization may take up to 6 weeks in some people. Get the following tests done: CBC, LFT, Stool microscopy, H. Pylori Ag test. Consult with reports
