Persistent Itching with Darkened Skin

2026-01-31 07:39:38
I have been experiencing itching in three areas: under my arms (armpits), the back side of my foot, and on my leg. The itching is sometimes very intense and sometimes mild or not present. In these areas, the skin has become dark/blackish in color. The itching comes and goes, but the skin discoloration remains. There is no constant pain, but the itching can be uncomfortable when it occurs.

Hello... Thanks for your Query. Your description is detailed albeit the pics are not top notch. There appear to be 3 separate issues albeit a common factor like dry skin may link then all and chronic scratching can lead to the darkening and thickening of skin you describe. However to give you a clear picture and provide a good management plan, more details will be required including medical, personal, family history together with some more clear pics of the affected area.

Health Tips
Good Hydration and moisturizer applied atop wet 💦 skin daily especially post 🚿 Good cover with an antihistamine for a few days till the root cause of the itch is isolated. Treatment of contacts if afflicted is important as is the management of Fomites.

From the description, it looks like you are suffering from chronic itch leading to thickening and darkening of the skin in that area.
Next Steps
Kindly get it checked by a dermatologist.
Health Tips
Keeping the area moisturised and resisting itching/scratching can help reduce pigmentation and thickness in the long run.
