In any kind of abscess, there are pockets of collection of pus, when we doctors drain the abscess it is important that all pockets are opened and cleaned, taking antibiotics properly and regular review with the surgeon who will the clean the wound and apply fresh dressing. Reasons of recurrent infection might be 1. No all the pus filled pockets are cleaned. 2. Probably you are not taking your antibiotics properly. 3. Probably you consume alcohol which makes the antibiotics ineffective. 4. Probably you are not regularly following up with the doctor or the doctor is not cleaning the wound properly on follow ups. 5. Last reason could be the infection, your nourishment is adequate which cause poor wound healing and decreased immunity predisposing to recurrent, or the bacteria is resistant, so your antibiotic is not effecting it.
Next Steps
Change your surgeon, a sample from the wound should be taken for culture and sensitivity, if you take alcohol minimise it with the help of doctor, improve your diet intake by consulting a good dietician.
