Patella Dislocation

2022-05-17 16:03:03
I had patella dislocation around few years back, 3 times on left knee, once on right knee I also found low vitamin content at that time. The doctor suggested to restrict knee movements to avoid jerks post dislocation and the knee was also swelled up, so it was in crepe bandage. Since then I have been asked to avoid any body contact sports and running. My last physio asked me to do strength training for my knees, Shall I join a gym simply?

Did you take any MRI for both knee.  You should find out the root cause for your problem. Knee strengthening exercises you should start from basic exercises followed by intermediate level and then advanced level. Gym exercises are totally different.
Next Steps
You should consult a physiotherapist or orthopaedist for complete assessment and exercise therapy.

Hi, Multiple dislocation of patella is a cautious one while considering to go to gym. Well as your previous physiotherapist told you to strengthen your knees, I too feel the same. Doing exercises under supervision of a Coach is not advisory but exercises under supervision of a physiotherapist is the best thing as He/she has complete knowledge of your condition. They can guide you what to do and what to avoid.
Next Steps
Please see a physiotherapist nearby.

You need to consult in person for proper assessment of the joints, then only deoending on the present condition exercises can be suggested. As far as joining gym, if you still have weak joints, doing exercises will affect your knees as well while lifting weights at gym which may result in  increase in pain. Consult in person for proper assessment and further treatment.

You do have a few things that could be helped. Make sure that your arches are supported. Other issues need to be assessed further by physical examination before a decision could be taken.
